Nadia Jones: South Norwood District Centre Manager

  • Nadia, tell us about your role as District Centre Manager for South Norwood My job as District Centre Manager will entail developing an action plan with local businesses to increase footfall, reduce vacancy rates and assist local businesses in their contact with the Council. I will be acting as facilitator between the business sector and the Council in areas such as crime, graffiti, waste and vacant properties. This position covers the area from Station Road and the High Street up to the top of Portland Road

  • What do you like about the South Norwood area? South Norwood has a lot of long established family businesses, they have been providing a variety of high quality services and products for many years. Also, the level of customer service I have encountered in many businesses has been very good.

  • What can you tell us about the Valentine’s Day Competition? I arranged the shop front competition to promote South Norwood's business sector and encourage people to shop locally, as well as brighten up the area and promote the businesses who entered. The competition had some great coverage in the local press and I’m looking forward to arranging future initiatives.

  • Can you tell us what you are planning next? I am intending to organise more events and initiatives to attract people into South Norwood and promote what is being achieved. I am currently having produced 20,000 copies of a ‘Discover South Norwood’ leaflet that will feature the many varied high quality and highly skilled businesses available here. These leaflets will be distributed to homes all over the area, as I believe that people will feel more encourage to shop locally if they are aware of what is available. I have also had a lot of interest from existing businesses and others wanting to start businesses who want to trade in South Norwood and could bring further variety to the area, so I am working with planning, landlords and developers to find suitable premises.

  • How can people get in touch with you? I’m happy to hear from anyone either by email at nadia.jones@croydonenterprise.com or by phone on 020 8090 5575 or 07776 477366
